Finally, the Lakers acquired a 32-year-old experienced coach to their coaching team.
They questioned when the Lakers would add to JJ Redick’s crew, and now they worry when they will stop.
According to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, Beau Levesque will join the Lakers’ coaching staff this season.
Currently, the Lakers have reportedly signed Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks as key assistant coaches, as well as Greg St. Jean, Bob Beyers, and Lindsey Harding, the G League Coach of the Year, to join Redick’s staff.
Redick may be a first-year coach, but his bench now includes decades of NBA knowledge and head coaching experience, as well as people like Beyers, a longtime assistant, and Harding, who is younger and eager to showcase her abilities on a larger stage.
Levesque is from the Clippers. He played basketball for Saint Mary’s College from 2009 to 2014 before moving on to play professionally in Spain for two seasons.
When his basketball career ended, Levesque went to graduate school at St. John and earned a master’s degree in sports management. Prior to joining the Clippers, he spent two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, working on player development and video.
He will now play for Los Angeles’ greatest professional basketball franchise. Given his previous work with the Clippers, he may become the director of player development, as Redick mentioned during his press conference. It is still not official, but his resume clearly fulfills the job description.
Regardless of his role with the Lakers, he’s another great addition to Redick’s coaching staff, as he continues to add experienced heads to the various bench positions.
