The Canterbury Bulldogs have announced that three players will have surgery following another challenging weekend for the team in terms of injuries.
After the club’s match against the New Zealand Warriors, which was decided by a Matt Burton field goal in golden point, Jaeman Salmon was injured. Ryan Sutton, Jack Todd, and Blake Taaffe, who plays utility spine, were also hurt while competing in the NSW Cup.
The club’s director of football verified Salmon’s dislocated jaw fracture yesterday.
The team has officially acknowledged that he underwent surgery yesterday to address the problem; the forward will be sidelined for the next six weeks.
After entering an early guilty plea for dangerous contact made during the game, the former Penrith Panther will now miss additional games in addition to the two weeks of absence that he would have missed otherwise.
He is unlikely to return before Round 25, therefore the Bulldogs will play the North Queensland Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos this week, followed by the Canberra Raiders, St George Illawarra Dragons, and Dolphins (in Bundaberg) to maintain their finals campaign. Salmon is probably going to make a comeback in Auckland when the Warriors and Seahawks play again.
Meanwhile, Blake Taaffe, a spine utility, has been confirmed to have sustained an ankle syndesmosis injury. He is scheduled to have surgery this week to treat the Grade 3 injury, which will need an eight-week recuperation period.
If the Bulldogs make it to the finals, he will only just be back in time. If their performance is sufficient to earn them a spot, Taaffe might not be included in the September rugby league.
Ryan Sutton’s injury run has continued in the NSW Cup match; this time, he sustained a torn patella tendon. He needs a whole knee reconstruction, and it’s unclear how long he will recover at this point.
Jack Todd had a forearm fracture while on the playing reserve grade, which is expected to necessitate surgery and an eight-week recuperation period.
