Luton Town have signed Shandon Baptiste, a midfielder who formerly played for Brentford.

The 26-year-old is the Hatters’ first addition for the upcoming season, having signed an undisclosed contract at Kenilworth Road.

Baptiste had been with Brentford for the past four years, having signed from Oxford United in January 2020.

During his stint with Brentford, he made 78 appearances and scored twice, including a Premier League goal against Luton in December.

Luton manager Rob Edwards expressed his delight at welcoming Baptiste to Kenilworth Road on the club’s official website.

He stated, “We’re quite excited to have Shandon in. I know I always say this about our guys, but he is a wonderful person.

“I had a few conversations with him, and he was very interested in joining us; it wasn’t a hard sell for me.” I believe he saw what we were about and wanted to join and contribute.

“He’s an extremely excellent footballer. He can take the ball and drive past anyone. I think he’s an interesting player with excellent technical skills, so we’re excited to have him join the team.

“He’s at a good age, he wants to return to the Premier League, and he meets a lot of criteria. He has a lot of experience, but he also wants to show himself, therefore he’s hungry.

“I’m thrilled. It’s a great piece of business by the club, and that’s what we take pride in: being as clever as possible in the market.
