Celtic have already been linked with a number of players this summer, and it is evident that the club is interested in both seasoned first-team competition and promising young players.

Last summer, the Bhoys perhaps got the balance of that all wrong, with insufficient quality added to Brendan Rodgers’ roster.

As the search for players who can immediately strengthen Rodgers’ starting lineup continues, it is critical that development on those prospects continues as well.

Costa Rican international Andy Rojas, who just became his country’s youngest representative at the Copa America competition, is one of the Bhoys’ adolescent players.

Several clubs are reportedly interested in Rojas, who might be available for a sum of less than £1 million.

Walter Centeno expresses interest in Celtic target Andy Rojas.
Herediano manager Walter Centeno does not want to lose his young talent on the cheap, but believes Rojas is destined for a successful future.

He told the Scottish Sun: “I am glad that Andy is finally back with the group. I’ve been told that if the club does not receive a suitable offer, Andy will stay with us. And I certainly hope this happens.

“He is an excellent child. Of course, he is only beginning off in his profession, but he has a tremendous talent.

“I enjoy how he accepts responsibilities at a young age. He’s going to have a huge career.”

Rojas scored 10 goals in his breakout season with the club last year, prompting his Costa Rica call-up. He can play on the wing or in the middle.

It is thought that teams from Italy and the Netherlands are also interested in the prospect.
