Podcast: Allison Royalty’s journey through change, growth and perseverance
The Seminole Softball Wrap podcast returns with its first episode of the 2024-2025 offseason. This time, hosts Gwyn Rhodes and Brian Pellerin are joined by a special guest: former Florida State pitcher Allison Royalty.
Royalty has a 2.70 ERA in 55 appearances over two years in garnet and gold, winning 15 of them. The Arizona State transfer rose to an ace role early in the 2024 season, but her season and college career were cut short due to injury.
In this interview, Allison discusses experiences from her time in Tallahassee, including:
The injury that prompted her to end her season early, the moment she realized it was time to stop, and how long she pitched through pain.
Her thoughts on what enabled FSU’s freshman to achieve such success this season, as well as why she believes the team’s development this year will catapult the Noles back to Oklahoma City in 2025.
Her experience with the transfer portal, from putting her name to taking visits and eventually selecting a school, as well as the Florida State coaching staff, is what ultimately drove her to choose FSU over an in-state opponent.
And how Coach A’s assistance both on and off the field helped her grow as a player and person as she faced the obstacles of starting a new school and feeling unsure about her mechanics.
