Cobblers have signed their fourth player in as many days, with midfielder Cameron McGeehan joining on a permanent basis.
The 29-year-old Northern Ireland international, an attack-minded midfielder who came through Norwich City’s youth ranks, has signed a two-year contract after turning down a new deal at Colchester, joining James Wilson, Nik Tzanev, and Callum Morton at Sixfields this week.
McGeehan began his youth career at Fulham before moving to Chelsea. He captained Norwich to FA Youth Cup triumph before impressing on loan at Luton Town and Cambridge United. He scored 31 goals in 106 appearances for the Hatters over three spells before signing permanently in 2015.
After three years at Barnsley, where he scored nine goals in 68 games, he moved on to Scunthorpe and Portsmouth before joining Belgian first flight club Oostende in 2020. McGeehan returned to England with Colchester last year, scoring 10 goals and contributing five assists in 2023/24, but he passed down the chance to stay with the club in favour of a transfer to Sixfields.
