Dylan Kerr, the former coach of Orlando Pirates star Evidence Makgopa, has confirmed that the striker chose to join the Buccaneers over a move to European giants Copenhagen!
Makgopa joined the Buccaneers from Baroka FC in 2022, having impressed for the Limpopo club.
The 24-year-old, who scored seven goals in just 14 games under Kerr, earned an offer from Danish club FC Copenhagen in 2022.
Makgopa, on the other hand, chose to join the Soweto giants, where he has appeared in 32 games over the last two seasons for the Orlando Pirates.
The tall forward scored six goals and assisted three others for the Buccaneers. He may not be as prolific as Tshegofatso Mabasa, but his remarkable work ethic makes him a favourite of Jose Riveiro’s.
MAKGOPA CHOSES ORLANDO PIRATES OVER COPENHAGEN – KERR
“At one time, Evidence Makgopa was meant to travel to Europe. Dylan Kerr told Soccer Laduma, “I believe it was in Denmark, but he eventually joined Orlando Pirates.”
“That was the appropriate time for him to leave and travel to Europe. I know him as both a player and a person. He may have made it to Europe and become a major celebrity. I believe he couldn’t have spent much time in Denmark because Premier League teams could have scouted and signed him.
In other news, Vincent Pule could be departing the Buccaneers on a loan next month!
Pule made only three starts for the Orlando Pirates last season. The excellent winger has struggled since Jose Riveiro joined the club.
The arrival of Patrick Maswanganyi, as well as the elevation of Relebohile Mofokeng, have done nothing to help the former Wits star.
According to speculations, the fast winger may be on his way to a loan move.
Pule was previously connected with a move to Sundowns, and his former Wits coach, Gavin Hunt, is also apparently interested in signing him.
During his stint with Bidvest Wits, the Orlando Pirates ace appeared in 57 games under Gavin Hunt. He scored eight goals and added six assists for the Clever Boys.

BUCS TO MAKE A BIG DECISION ON VINCENT PULE
“The Soweto giants will make the call on whether he will go on loan in the new season or he will choose to remain at the club and seek a way back to the field,” according to the Kick Off article.
Pule was linked with a move to SuperSport United last season, and his recent problems at the club have reignited those talks.
“Vincent Pule received a three-year contract extension last year. However, the Orlando Pirates winger has failed to re-establish his spot on the club due to injuries and intense competition for positions. SuperSport United, led by former Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt, has inquired about his availability ahead of the winter transfer window, according to senior Goal journalist Austin Ditlohobolo.
