Newcastle United are looking to sell Sean Longstaff for at least £20 million. A sale before June 30th seems improbable.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are willing to trade homegrown midfielder Sean Longstaff for a fee of £20 million. The academy product will enter the final year of his contract at St James Park, and the Magpies believe this summer may be their last chance to cash in on him.

Will Newcastle United sell Sean Longstaff?
The Premier League’s profit and sustainability criteria have been a hot topic when it comes to the transfer market, with Newcastle United at the forefront of these laws. The Magpies are on the verge of breaking the rules, which could result in punishment, and must raise revenue through sales by June 30.

They are in talks about selling some of their finest players, but they want to maintain Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes. Newcastle United are making headway in contract discussions with Isak, but they remain helpless if any club triggers his alleged release clause.

As a result, other players, such as Sean Longstaff, could be moved, with the 26-year-old likely to fetch a higher price than many others. The departure of the homegrown midfielder might allow the Magpies to report the funds as total profits under PSR regulations, with a request for £20 million in return.

Leicester City are interested, but it is unclear whether they can pay Newcastle’s asking price or if the midfielder wants to move to a freshly promoted club after his tenure at St James Park.

Longstaff sale is unlikely before June 30.
While June 30 has become synonymous with PSR duties, and despite the fact that Newcastle requires sales before that date, any exit of Longstaff is unlikely to occur before then. The Magpies do not expect a dramatic departure from the player who has appeared for them 172 times since 2018.

As a result, while they may still sell him later, the club can utilize the proceeds to acquire fresh players in the summer. They lack the funds to make certain high-profile signings. So, any sale of Longstaff for around £20 million would be a significant transaction for the club.
