Former Orlando Pirates great Kermit Erasmus, 33, may still provide value to the Kaizer Chiefs, according to Junior Khanye.
ormer Orlando Pirates attacker Kermit Erasmus is being persuaded to join Kaizer Chiefs next season.
The 33-year-old was among the six players released by the Buccaneers last week. Erasmus has had two stints with the Pirates, but his first was particularly notable. Between 2013 and 2016, the striker scored 19 goals in 63 appearances with the Sea Robbers before leaving to join French club Rennes. His second tenure with the Pirates was less successful, but he did win four titles with the Soweto Giants.
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye stated that the former Orlando Pirates star may be an excellent match for Amakhosi.
“I’d love to see him sign with the Kaizer Chiefs,” he told iDiski TV.
“I think Kaizer Chiefs can give something. However, the Chiefs may be hesitant because of his age, as in South Africa, once you reach 34 or 35, you are no longer eligible to play.
“I don’t understand where this is coming from because there are excellent players who are still playing for their countries at the ages of 36 and 37 and still scoring.

“Why not Kermit at the age of 34 [33]?” “For me, he is still good enough to play for Kaizer Chiefs,” Khanye remarked of the former Orlando Pirates attacker.
Erasmus was still valued at the age of 33.
Amakhosi had a disappointing season, finishing 10th in the DStv Premiership. None of their strikers reached double figures last season, and it’s very probable that the club will attempt to sign one or two forwards during the preseason.
