Five-star recruit Isiah Harwell lists Gonzaga among final four schools
The Pocatello native and Wasatch Academy (Utah) standout has offers from Alabama, Baylor, BYU, Louisville, North Carolina, Arizona State, Creighton, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kansas State, Miami, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, UCLA, Villanova, and Washington State, among others, according to 247Sports.com. Harwell had previously announced a list of nine contenders, but will no longer consider North Carolina, Baylor, UCLA, Alabama, or Idaho State.
Harwell praised Gonzaga on a visit to the Spokane campus for a game versus Santa Clara on February 24, and discussed his recruitment journey with the Bulldogs in an interview with On3’s Joe Tipton. “The atmosphere was great,” Harwell stated. “I knew they had a good following, but I had no idea they brought it like that. It’s a small school, but they really brought the enthusiasm. It was insane there. My favorite aspect of campus was Coach (Mark) Few’s office. I mean, he had so many trophies there. Just being in there, you can tell he is a winner.
“You know, during that visit, I was able to become closer to everyone there. I finally got to meet them all in person, which was fantastic. I got to meet the coaching staff, the trainers, and the entire team. “It was amazing.”
Gonzaga is the only of Harwell’s four finalists to have hosted the 6-foot-5 combo guard for an official visit, although he has also made an unofficial visit to Houston and plans to visit Cal on June 25. Harwell had a knee injury midway through the 2023-24 season at Wasatch Academy, forcing him to miss the remainder of his junior year and a significant portion of the AAU tour. According to 247Sports.com, Isiah, the son of former Idaho State standout Ron Harwell, is the country’s second-ranked shooting guard and seventh-ranked overall prospect.
The Zags did not land a high school commitment in the 2025 or 2026 recruiting classes, but they were able to build for the future through the transfer portal, signing Colgate guard Braden Smith, who will have two years of eligibility remaining after redshirting next season, and Tarleton State forward Emmanuel Innocenti, who will begin his sophomore season this fall. Gonzaga has also been linked to 7-foot Real Madrid center Ismaila Diagne, a Senegalese native with four years of eligibility if he signs with the Bulldogs before the 2024-25 season.
