The Orlando Pirates do not hesitate to release players before announcing new acquisitions. Fortune Makaringe has been replaced.
The Orlando Pirates’ roster will be enhanced next season. Players with limited effect have already been dismissed to create room for newcomers.
Orlando Pirates Release Fortune Makaringe.
As revealed by the Sea Robbers in recent weeks, the former Maritzburg United player has left the Soweto giants.
“Orlando Pirates can confirm that Fortune Makaringe is leaving the club. Our four wonderful seasons and almost 140 games with the 31-year-old midfielder have come to an end. “Words cannot fully express our gratitude and appreciation to Makaringe,” the club stated, as reported by the Sowetan.
“During his tenure with us, he continually displayed excellent professionalism and discipline. The club will always be appreciative for his contributions and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors,” the Orlando Pirates concluded.
NEW SIGNING REPLACEMENT.
Meanwhile, the Buccaneers reportedly signed Selaelo Rasebotja from SuperSport United. While other stories wrongly said that Rasebotja had replaced Thabang Monare, the 23-year-old Rasebotja plays at number 8 or 10, the same position as Makaringe. Monare was a defensive midfielder/number six. As a result, Rasebotja will take over for Makaringe, rather than Monare. Thalente Mbatha, who plays as a 6, took over for Monare.
According to seasoned SABC Sport reporter Mazola Molefe, Rasebotja, 23, has signed as a free agent with Orlando Pirates. His contract with Matsatsantsa is up on the 30th.
“SABC Sport can reveal that Orlando Pirates have swooped in on midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja, who joins the Soweto giants on a free transfer,” Molefe stated.
“Rasebotja was promoted from the SuperSport United academy at the start of the 2020/21 season, under then-coach Kaitano Tembo, and played a minor role for the Tshwane club.
“However, with the 23-year-old due to become a free agent at the end of this month, Pirates have moved swiftly to rope him in to bolster coach Jose Riveiro’s squad,” according to the article.
Goodbye, Fortune Makaringe.Dear Mabhakaniya supporters, I appreciate your support from my announcement as a player in 2019 until this year (2024). Your love is blessed with enduring happiness every year. I’ll always be one of you, once and forever.
“My heartfelt gratitude to Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza, my older brothers, my little sister, and the entire board of directors. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to learn and experience what it takes to become a Buccaneer.
“As a Buccaneer, you presented me with a responsibility-filled image that will always be associated with the Orlando Pirates FC family, and it is with great honour and privilege that I acknowledge that the responsibility is even greater now that I stand to represent the brand wherever my calling takes me. I’ll be eternally grateful for feeling so cherished.
