Kirk Cousins, the 35-year-old quarterback for the Falcons, appears to be under more pressure than ever.
While Cousins recovers from his ruptured Achilles tendon, Atlanta selected former Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Undoubtedly under pressure, Cousins stated he would play today if the Falcons needed him to.
Though there’s no denying that Cousins gives the team the best opportunity to win right now, Penix Jr. may represent the franchise’s future.
Nevertheless, Cousins’ assertion is somewhat qualified. If the Super Bowl were played today, he might be prepared to risk his life, but would he do the same for a regular-season game?
Cousins made hints that he’s still working on teaching his body that it is unrestricted.
It appears from that that he does not feel completely well just yet. Fortunately, Cousins and the Falcons have a lot of time to get there between now and Week 1.
