Jeans Company Has NFL Request After They Claim Browns Copied Their Video

Every summer, NFL teams start to get really excited about revealing their schedules because, to their social media managers, it’s like the Super Bowl.

The Cleveland Browns appear to have crossed a line and angered a well-known denim brand. This has led to a difficult issue that has developed into a position akin to blackmail.

When the Cleveland Browns released their schedule announcement video, Mugsy Jeans claimed that the team made a “complete copy” of one of its social media videos. The company stated, “We will not sue, but we ask that the NFL buys 1 million pairs of jeans.”

Mugsy’s Cael Schwartz posted the tweet and indicated in a subsequent one that they “might sue.”

The bowling icon Pete Weber—who famously said, “Who do you think you are, I am!”—starred in Mugsy’s first advertisement, which debuted last year and cost them more money than they had ever spent before, excluding merchandise.

Weber used his signature catchphrase in the Browns schedule announcement video, which also featured similar camera tracking, shots, and even a bowling alley.

If the Browns took the initiative in this case, it’s unclear why Mugsy is criticizing the NFL as a whole. Cleveland’s social media crew could have gotten too close to the sun in this instance.
