Following Ken Dorsey’s hiring as the team’s new offensive coordinator this summer, there has been much discussion about who will call plays for the Browns in the 2024 regular season: head coach Kevin Stefanski or Dorsey.

The coach that will call the offensive plays for Cleveland in the upcoming season was revealed by Browns insider Tony Grossi after he observed the team’s rookie minicamp this past weekend.

The source gave his reasoning for believing Dorsey, not Stefanski, would be making the decisions for the upcoming season on “The Daily Grossi” Podcast.

“I observed that Dorsey was leading the offense, and Stefanski, the coach, has retreated and is focusing on other areas of the team when Dorsey is leading the offense,” Grossi stated.

From seeing the coaches’ interactions with the team, Grossi claimed he could tell that Dorsey was in charge of the offense.

The source issued a warning with his analysis, stating that it was impossible to predict if Stefanski’s laissez-faire attitude would hold when Cleveland’s whole roster gets together later this summer with just over two dozen players present at the minicamp.

According to Grossi, Stefanski might become more of a CEO-style coach rather than the team’s previous experience with him being a hands-on play-caller.

The insider came to the conclusion that the coach assigning the plays is still a mystery.

Former offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt left Cleveland in the off-season to take up the same position at New England.

Dorsey made a lateral move as well; in February, he joined the Browns after quitting the same role with Buffalo.
