Win streaks are just like everything else that has a limit. Nevertheless, yesterday’s Yankees game against the Astros started off with a deficit but the team persevered and ended up almost catching up.

It’s almost indescribable, and more likely a sign of the club’s improved offensive than a manifestation of a stronger team spirit, but this year’s team does appear to have more grit than last year, even in defeat. Look forward to Matt’s preview of the weekend set with the Rays and backward to Madison’s analysis of Thursday’s rivalry-related events on the website this morning. Later, Nick Sarnelli will examine Anthony Volpe’s defensive improvement, and Peter’s Sequence of the Week will examine Luis Gil.

In addition, Smith talks about a pitcher and hitter he’s keeping an eye on at the complex league level, and Madison provides the answers to this week’s mailbag.
