Orlando Pirates to sign another SuperSport United gem – report
The Orlando Pirates have already begun planning to add players to their roster for the upcoming season, and they have identified one SuperSport standout.
Kegan Johannes is supposedly on the Orlando Pirates’ roster as a SuperSport United jewel to be signed before the 2019–20 season.
Sportswire has been informed by sources that the agreement for Johannes to sign with the Buccaneers is finalized.
Since Johannes has been a vital component of SuperSport United’s defense over the years, they extended their contract until June 2026.
And this implies that in order to obtain his services from Matsatsantsa, pirates might have had to give with millions of Rands.
Now, because of their present injury problems, the Pirates seek to strengthen their right-back position, according to the same magazine.
Bandile Shandu has also suffered a good deal of injuries this season, while Thabiso Lebitso is hurt and might not return until next season.
Jose Riveiro has been using Thabiso Monyane in the absence of the two, and the Pirates now want to bring in Johannes to stabilize that department.
A JOHANNES SIGNATION FROM SUPERSPORT UNITED FOR ORLANDO PIRATES
A portion of the story states, “SuperSport United defender Kegan Johannes is on his way to join Orlando Pirates next season.”
The Pirates have reportedly been searching for a reliable right back for the previous two seasons, and Johannes appears to meet the criteria, according to Sportswire sources. Due to injury, their options at the position are now limited.
“Sportswire has been informed that the deal is finalized, and Johannes will be joining the team he scored against at Orlando Stadium in March 2022 during a DStv Premiership match.”
MATSATSANTSA SEEMS TO BE ADDING MORE PLAYERS TO BUCS
If Johannes does really sign with Pirates, he will reunite with Patrick Maswanganyi and Thalente Mbatha, his old teammates at SuperSport United.
Mbatha is now a SuperSport United loanee at Pirates, but rumors have it that he might be here permanently come season.
SuperSport United, who also signed Siphesihle Ndlovu from the Sea Robbers, and the Pirates appear to get along well.
It was shocking a few years ago when SuperSport United signed Thamsanqa Gabuza from Pirates.
Given the demanding schedule and trophy-winning goals of Pirates, Johannes would be expected to contribute right away.
Currently, Pirates are competing for a spot in the CAF Champions League by finishing second in the DStv Premiership log.
They will play Mamelodi Sundowns, the league champions, in the Nedbank Cup final on June 1.
