CJ Stroud will have an additional tool to use in the upcoming season.
Ben Skowronek, a wide receiver, was acquired by the Houston Texans from the Los Angeles Rams in a trade, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network on Thursday. As part of the transaction, the Rams and Texans will trade 2026 draft picks in the sixth and seventh rounds.
The Rams had planned to cut Skowronek, 26, but they were able to acquire a trade partner for him beforehand.
Skowronek was a member of the Rams squad that won Super Bowl LVI in his first season.
He was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Despite seeing limited playing time in the explosive Rams passing game, Skowronek did show some promise in 2022, when he recorded 39 catches for 376 yards.
With 1,000-yard wide receiver Nico Collins, explosive deep threat Tank Dell, and the highly-regarded receiver the Texans signed last month all ahead of him on the depth chart, Skowronek is unlikely to play a larger role in Houston either. Skowronek, however, ought to be worth the low-risk gamble for Houston as their new possession receiver option.
