ATHENS, Georgia – Kendal Kemp, a 6-6 middle blocker who will transfer from Auburn, has signed with the University of Georgia volleyball team, according to head coach Tom Black.

Kemp will be eligible in 2025 and 2026, but he will redshirt in 2024. Kemp played club volleyball for Northern Lights Volleyball in Minnesota alongside rising junior Estelle Haugen of the Bulldogs.

“We are thrilled to bring Kendal into our program,” Black stated. Her physicality and track record as a top-tier SEC middle blocker will be a huge asset to our team. Most importantly, her dedication to improving throughout high school and college has amazed me. Every year since then, she’s improved. Our program is having a very fantastic day.”

With 27 starts in 2023, the product of Eagan, Minnesota, led the Tigers with 131 total blocks and 1.26 blocks per set, good for fifth place in the SEC in both categories. She became just the eighth Tiger to reach the 300-block plateau at Auburn in just two seasons. On the Plains, she had 309 blocks, good for eighth place all-time.

In 2022, Kemp had a tremendous rookie season that earned him a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team and an AVCA South Region Honorable Mention. During that season, she won two Freshman of the Week awards and one SEC Defensive Player of the Week award. Kemp led the Tigers in hitting at.321, recorded 204 kills, and set an Auburn record with 180 blocks in 31 games, all while starting. In 2022, her 180 total blocks ranked second in the SEC and fourth nationally.

Kemp, a 2022 alumnus of Eagan High School in Eagan, Minnesota, won the Pioneer Press 2021 Co-Player of the Year award and was selected to the AVCA High School All-Region Team in 2021.

During her time competing for Rogers High School, she was named an All-State honorable mention, a South Suburban Conference honorable mention, a Minnesota 8 All-Conference Award winner, and an All-Academic Award honoree. In high school, she participated in softball and swim team competitions.

Kelly and Doug Kemp are the parents of Kendal. Kevin is her only sibling.
