In response to inquiries about whether he would rather not play at the Commanders, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels declared on Wednesday that he is “100%” fine with going there. Furthermore, he maintains that he had no issues with the Commanders’ methods of operation throughout the pre-draft phase.
During its unconventional top-30 draft visits, the club hosted Daniels, Drake Maye of North Carolina, J.J. McCarthy of Michigan, and Michael Penix of the University of Washington simultaneously in Washington.
The agent of Daniels, Ron Butler, tweeted a PFT Live footage in which he criticized the Commanders for not having the quarterbacks visit separately, using the emoji of a guy contemplating about something.
Daniels was questioned on Wednesday about whether he felt that the Commanders handled his pre-draft visit improperly.
Daniels stated, “I just had fun with the other guys,” according to Washington Post reader Sam Fortier. The ability to engage with others while going about things is obviously important. Just go out and have fun. Thus, it was enjoyable.
The quarterbacks recently traveled to Washington and competed at a TopGolf. Despite not being a golfer, Daniels deemed the trip to be enjoyable.
Daniels remarked, “I think it was just to be able to have fun.” Since only one of us will be present, I honestly don’t think they were paying much attention to how the quarterbacks interacted with one another. Thus, I believe it was clearly done [to] kind of change it up from how other top-30 trips are made. Being able to simply go out, enjoy yourself, and spend time with those you’re working with without having to worry too much about things like, “Oh, I have to remember this play,” and other similar concerns
Daniels claimed he had ample time at the Scouting Combine and in Zoom sessions with the Commanders, despite being the clear favorite to go to the Commanders at No. 2 overall in the betting.
“All is well,” Daniels declared. “I just want to be happy wherever I go.”
