Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers has been one of, if not the most, talked about trade candidates in the weeks and days preceding the 2024 NFL Draft. For the time being, though, Aiyuk would remain in San Francisco according to 49ers general manager John Lynch.
It’s the wide receiver’s last year under contract. The 49ers might recover a significant amount of draft capital through a trade if San Francisco is concerned about their ability to keep him. Lynch, though, does not intend to have to go that path. According to Clayton Holloway of the NFL Network, Lynch doesn’t want the good times to end, especially with Aiyuk’s level of success in San Francisco.
Lynch remarked, “We hope he stays here for the remainder of his career.” “We are addressing that.”
Nevertheless, Lynch is fully aware of the predicament San Francisco finds itself in. Lynch doesn’t want to turn down an offer if it blows the 49ers away.
Lynch acknowledged getting trade requests for Aiyuk, saying, “Sure.” “We get a lot of calls for players.”
One of the main plots leading up to the NFL Draft will be what the 49ers choose to do with Aiyuk. A deal would completely upend the NFL’s current structure. San Francisco is undoubtedly a team that needs wide receiver assistance.

But Lynch expects Brandon Aiyuk to be on his team when the 49ers exit the NFL Draft. For Brock Purdy, Aiyuk has shown to be a potent receiving threat in an attack loaded with playmakers. John Lynch is aware that having Aiyuk on the team makes it stronger.
Calls will come in, and at some point a deal might be struck. However, Lynch isn’t prepared to make the transaction just yet, at least not just before the event.
Aiyuk was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the 49ers, where he has played for the entire four years. He has caught 269 passes for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns in 62 games overall. Aiyuk had appeared to be among the top receivers in the NFL since 2022, when he finally found his footing.
He recorded new career highs in touchdown grabs (8) and receptions (78) in 2022. A year later, with 1,342 yards gained, he broke the career receiving yardage record. Additionally, he recorded a new career high of 17.9 yards per catch
Among all NFL pass catchers, that figure came in second. Whenever Purdy feels like going deep, Aiyuk is usually there and available. Aiyuk can still pick up extra yards after the play, even on short routes. Teams all over the league are smitten with him because of his pace and ability to create opportunities for others.
In contrast, the 49ers are not unique. They are aware that they might lose Brandon Aiyuk for free in a year. But San Francisco intends to exert every effort to keep him, at least for the time being. Although Lynch is open to trade proposals, it would take a major miracle to deal Aiyuk before the 2024 NFL Draft.
