These athletes seem like ideal fits for the Green Bay Packers, who have six picks in the first four rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft.

For general manager Brian Gutekunst of the Green Bay Packers, the 2024 NFL Draft is very important. Gutekunst has the team ready to play for a Super Bowl as early as 2024 after dominating the last two selection classes.

With a few more impact players added in this draft class, the Packers could push themselves over the hump and into the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010.

Anytime someone sits down to do a mock draft, they’re hoping to make things perfect. Same for NFL general managers. If Gutekunst had his way, he’d be able to have his pick from any player in this draft class anytime he was on the clock. That’s not feasible, of course, but there are players that are ranked by the rounds in which Gutekunst sees the best value.

The goal of this exercise was to determine which player would be the ideal fit for each of the Packers’ picks in the first four rounds if they were realistically able to be available when they were on the clock. It was done utilizing the Consensus Big Board at Mock Draft Database and other mock draft websites.

For instance, Gutekunst probably adores Joe Alt, the offensive tackle from Notre Dame, but he won’t be available unless something disastrous happens in the interim before the day.

The players we believe would be the best choices for each of the team’s first six selections are listed below, along with their consensus board ranking in parenthesis.

Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa (21) in the first round
Since the start of the draft season, DeJean has been the Packers’ most ridiculed player. It is logical. He attends a school where the Packers have previously had success selecting players. Lukas Van Ness, one of DeJean’s old teammates, was only selected in the first round of the previous season.

DeJean is capable of playing slot corner, safety, or cornerback. He had a 38.5 vertical jump and a 40-yard sprint time of 4.44 seconds during this week’s pro day.

DeJean could compete for a job at outside corner with Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine. He could give Keisean Nixon some competition as the slot corner. He could be the starting safety next to Xavier McKinney.

If none of those things work out for him as a rookie, he could take over as the team’s primary punt returner, where he was one of the best players in college football.

Sometimes a pick that is called the most obvious gets that way for a reason.
