https://sportsrock247.com/2024/04/09/heartbreaking-ne…s-handed-over-to/Due to yet ANOTHER pitch inspection scheduled on Wednesday morning at Dens Park, Rangers’ trip to Dundee has been put in jeopardy once more.
The rescheduled match between Philippe Clement’s Light Blues and the City of Discovery could be further disrupted by the SPFL’s announcement that a surface check will occur at 11 a.m. During his news conference earlier today, the Belgian manager said that the players will be spending the night in Dundee. Calling the scenario “crazy,” he requested that a decision be made the night before the game.
This season, Dundee has already had FOUR games postponed due to inclement weather and a yellow weather advisory from the Met Office. After TWO turf inspections, the match against Motherwell over the weekend proceeded, and tomorrow morning’s midweek match against the same team will now undergo the same examination.
Speaking earlier today, Clement said: “It’s a crazy situation, we are going to travel now and stay (overnight) but we don’t know for sure if the game is on. It’s a bad situation for the league. We have to find a good solution to get this game played. If it was moved to next week we could find ourselves in the same situation once again if it rains.
“The club has been in talks with Dundee and the league as we want a good football game to go ahead. They are in a battle for the top six, creating a lot of chances. So it will be a big test against a good team.”
A Dundee statement read: “This afternoon Dundee Football Club have been in discussion with the league regarding the pitch at The Scot Foam Stadium. Due to the recent heavy rain, it has been agreed that it is in the best interest of all parties if a pitch inspection takes place tomorrow morning at The Scot Foam Stadium in order that an early decision is communicated ahead of the evening match against Rangers. This pitch inspection will be conducted by the match referee. We will then announce the outcome of the inspection.”
Rangers also updated fans online by saying: “Supporters are advised an 11am pitch inspection will take place at Dens Park ahead of tomorrow’s Premiership match with Dundee. Rangers will ensure supporters are advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
