Terry McLaurin wasn’t pleased to see 2024 NFL free agent Curtis Samuel sign with the Buffalo Bills after he left the Washington Commanders. In addition to calling Samuel’s exit “a loss for our room,” McLaurin listed many other reasons why his fellow wide receiver will be missed.

Those reasons include Samuel’s ability to “make plays inside and outside… he kept things light, but he was also a hard worker,”

It’s clear McLaurin believes Samuel will be missed on many levels after signing a with the Bills. That’s possible, although it’s also easy to argue the Commanders rarely got the best out of Samuel’s dual-threat skill-set.

With Samuel’s departure, McLaurin is under intense pressure to oversee a reorganized receiving corps. Given the burden, McLaurin will need to develop into a more complete wideout.

Terry McLaurin Could Clarify His Position
McLaurin has had five successful years in Washington, where he has flourished as an outside receiver. The 28-year-old will continue to be the Commanders’ preferred target after four consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards, but he will have to reevaluate his role in Samuel’s absence.

McLaurin’s usually won by beating coverage on the perimeter. His straight-line speed and the toughness to reel in contested catches in traffic make the 2019 third-round draft pick a classic vertical threat outside the numbers.
