In an afternoon press conference, Brendan Rodgers gave a preview of this weekend’s matchup at Ibrox versus his bitter enemies, the Rangers.
Before Sunday’s 12 p.m. kickoff across the city, the Celtic manager spoke on a variety of topics as he acknowledged that he expected a tough game against Philippe Clement’s team. The two Premiership heavyweights are separated by just one point, and a victory for either team may significantly alter the standings.
Callum McGregor, the captain, needs to return to the field for Rodgers to have the best chance of winning, but the Northern Irishman also discussed other topics, such as the “narrative” he still finds difficult to follow this season.

Paulo Bernardo and Kyogo’s goals helped Celtic win the match, but the Scotland international was too much for Sterling, Cantwell, and Lundstrum to handle in the midfield. Instead, the Celtic captain controlled the midfield.
Speaking at a press conference prior to the teams’ third league encounter, Clement first expressed his opinion that McGregor did not dominate the contest before applauding the 30-year-old’s impact.
Clearly Clement was watching another game as McGregor was excellent as his role in the deep lying role protected an inexperienced back four as well as break up any Rangers forays forward as well as contributing towards going forward. It seems to be a case of Clement trying to gee his players up by giving them some motivation that he believes that they were able to compete with McGregor in the game.
It remains to be seen whether Brendan Rodgers will start McGregor on Sunday as he has just returned from injury. Rodgers said in his own media conference that he would need to make a decision on what role McGregor plays at Ibrox.
