According to a recent paper, Celtic had the seventh-highest pre-tax profits in Europe in 2023.
The Club Finance and Investment Landscape study, which provides a wealth of information about clubs throughout the continent, was just released by UEFA. In fact, we reported this week that the Rangers and the Hoops both had gate revenues in the top 20 as they enjoyed the benefits of large fan bases.
Celts’ poor financial standing has long been known, and their most recent half-term report showed that they made £40.7 million in pre-tax profit in 2023, brought in £119.9 million in sales, and had £72.3 million in the bank. The pre-tax profit is shown as €47 million in the UEFA report, which reflects that.
However, it also shows us how they stack up against other European clubs, and the answer is not too bad. The only teams with higher pre-tax revenue were Barcelona, Brighton, Napoli, Ajax, Bayern Munich, and RB Salzburg.
According to such stats, Celtic is ahead of top teams like PSG, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Juventus.
