In their quest for promotion, Portsmouth has now received a warning from Derby County manager Paul Warne.

Derby County defeated Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, tightening their hold on second place in League One. The Rams have a four-point advantage over third place if they win that exciting matchup.

Even though Paul Warne’s team still has seven games left to play before they can celebrate being promoted to the Championship, they have made tremendous progress in recent weeks.

The Rams have won their past four games in a row, but Dwight Gayle, who scored three goals in those games, now needs a scan since he injured his hamstring against Bolton.

Despite the possibility that the seasoned striker would miss the last few weeks of the campaign and the imminent return of James Collins at the beginning of April, Warne is still focused on winning League One.

Portsmouth, who have amassed 83 points from their 39 games, have been leading the league for a good spell and now have a five-point advantage over Derby.

The team headed by John Mousinho has been the most outstanding in the division, and after defeating Peterborough United last time out, they appear certain to finish in the top two.
