With 16th in receptions, 20th in targets, 19th in yards, 11th in touchdowns, 5th in interceptions, and 18th in passing first downs, the New York Giants’ pass defense finished the season in the middle of the pack.
This offseason, New York has a few cornerbacks who are free agents. While Adoree’ Jackson remains unrestricted, the team has re-signed their backup cornerback.
In his debut season, Holmes played in 12 games, starting five of them, and finished with 30 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 5 pass deflections, 1 interception, and 1 fumble recovery in 442 snaps. He gave up 33 receptions for 323 yards and an 85.7 passer rating on 44 targets. Due to injuries to his neck and knee, he missed four games.
In his second season, Holmes played in 11 games, starting four of them, and recording 29 tackles, one interception, and two pass deflections in 281 snaps. However, he saw reduced playing time. In 33 targets, he gave up 22 receptions for 213 yards and a 71.9 passer rating. He missed the remainder of the season due to a fractured rib sustained in Week 12.
Holmes saw the most amount of playing time in his third season, playing in 15 games, starting twice, and had 38 tackles, two for a loss, eight pass deflections, and one forced fumble in 572 snaps. He allowed 41 receptions on 67 targets for 435 yards, one touchdown, and an 85.1 passer rating.
Holmes took a pay cut and saw the least amount of playing time in his fourth season, playing in 16 games and had 18 tackles, one for a loss, two interceptions, three pass deflections, and one forced fumble in 123 snaps. He allowed 12 receptions on 16 targets for 152 yards and a 64.6 passer rating.
