On the first day of free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders made a big impression by signing defensive tackle Christian Wilkins to a four-year, $110 million deal.

Not everyone was as thrilled with the Raiders’ acquisition of the former Miami Dolphin, despite the fact that many praised them for it. The signing received harsh criticism from Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon in a piece titled “Best and Worst Contracts Signed This Offseason.”

“The five-year veteran has never recorded double-digit sacks, five total takeaways in five seasons, been a first- or second-team All-Pro or a Pro Bowl player, and he’s never put up a double-digit approximate value rating at Pro Football Reference (a mark that more than 100 players reached in 2023),” Gagnon wrote in a column on March 20.

Is Wilkins truly the NFL’s fifth-highest paid defensive player? The Raiders will regret this one, but the market is what it is.

Wilkins is costing the Raiders a lot of money, but if they hadn’t, another team probably would have; DAZN refers to Wilkins as “one of the coveted players on the market.”

Peter Schrager of Fox Sports stated on “Good Morning Football” that he “loves this fit.”
