Recognizing his desperation to escape his Celtic nightmare and go back to South America, Alexandro Bernabei says.
After failing to receive consistent playing time at the Hoops, the left-back inked a contract to play on loan for Brazilian team Internacional till the end of the current calendar year. The 23-year-old was barely trusted as a backup and was unable to unseat Greg Taylor as the first pick by the Hoops. He appeared in very few games under Brendan Rodgers and even fewer from the beginning.
Bernabei, an Argentine, is eager to start over, particularly nearer to home. Additionally, he believes that participating in a football culture that is more natural to him will allow him to showcase his abilities. That meant that when he heard of interest, he was eager to make the transfer in addition to playing more frequently.
He said: “I really wanted to come back and feel what South American football is all about again. Wearing this Internacional shirt gives me a lot of emotion and adrenaline. Knowing what this club means makes me want to get going and create an impression here.
“When I heard about Internacional wanting me, I wanted to come here. When it comes to my football assets, I am fast, I cross the ball well and show a lot of motivation and aggression. But you will see that where it matters…on the pitch. I am going to give everything to the cause this season.”
