SO SAD: This Is The End Of Journey ”Davante Adams” Confirmed To Leave Raiders For...SEE MORE AT BBCNEWS.COM
By inviting Alexander Mattison for an NFL free-agency visit, the Las Vegas Raiders are exploring their options for a potential Josh Jacobs replacement.
Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report broke the initial word of Alexander Mattison’s visit.
Mattison, 25, ran for a career-high 700 yards in 2023 while seeing the most substantial workload of his career.
After letting Jacobs depart via free agency and signing a contract with the Green Bay Packers, the Raiders have a big need to fill at running back.
Through the first five seasons of his career, all in a Vikings uniform, Mattison has averaged 4.1 yards per carry while rushing for 2,370 yards and 11 touchdowns. Alexander Mattison has also logged 100 receptions for 718 yards and six touchdowns.
Given that the Raiders have signed Gardner Minshew, who comes from a good season with the Indianapolis Colts, who regularly use their backs out of the backfield as pass catchers, Mattison’s versatility may make him a perfect fit.
In the meanwhile, the person who ends up taking Jacobs’ place will have very large shoes to fill.
In his five seasons wearing a Las Vegas Raiders outfit, Jacobs has gained 5,545 yards and 46 touchdowns, and he is just one season away from capturing the running title.
