After leaving the NFL team after three seasons, Justin Fields issued a poignant tribute to the Chicago Bears and their supporters.

Fields is expected to be Russell Wilson’s backup after being dealt to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a sixth-round draft pick. Caleb Williams, a collegiate sensation, is currently a target for the Bears, who plan to choose him with their first pick in the April draft.

Chosen as a first-round pick himself in 2021, Fields was viewed as the future quarterback of the team and had periods of spectacular performance. However, after landing the first pick, it appears the Bears have decided to allow Fields to join the Steelers.

In his first remarks following the trade, Fields expressed gratitude to the supporters and team. “It’s impossible to express how grateful I am to the city of Chicago for accepting and loving me,” he wrote on X. I am grateful to the whole Bears organization and ownership for giving me this chance to be a part of such a legendary team.

“I want to thank all of my brothers who I played with, but especially them. I attacked every day in the manner that I did because of you all. For all that you have meant to me for the past three years, through the highs and lows, I cannot express how much I appreciate it. I’m wishing you all the best of luck. “At ease with the upcoming chapter!”

Fields may be in a difficult situation with the Steelers because Wilson has already been named the team’s starting quarterback for the next campaign. Now that he’s guaranteed a starting spot before 2024, Wilson, 25, will seek to impress throughout the preseason, where he can draw interest from teams across the league.

NFL Network swiftly revealed that, despite Pittsburgh’s deal for Fields, a Steelers insider claimed Wilson would continue to start. Several NFL teams were reportedly interested in starting Fields this season, especially the Minnesota Vikings and New England Patriots, who are in need of a starting quarterback.

The Philadelphia Eagles were the only team to submit an offer before choosing to trade for Kenny Pickett of the Steelers, and it is reported that neither team expressed interest in trading for Fields.
