Amy, Pickett’s wife, responded to the trade on social media shortly after it was announced on Friday that the 25-year-old quarterback will be traded by the Steelers to the Eagles after two seasons in Pittsburgh.

Couldn’t be happier or more appreciative! Go, Birds! Over the weekend, Amy made one Instagram Story post.

She added in a separate slide: “Looking forward to our next chapter 💚

 all love.”

Pickett, a New Jersey native who cheered for the Eagles growing up, will now back up Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles announced the terms of the trade Saturday, with the team receiving a 2024 fourth-rounder

The Steelers receive two 2025 seventh-round selections and a 2024 third-round pick (No. 98) in exchange.

After two miserable seasons in Denver, Pittsburgh came to terms with former Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson. It’s been an incredible few days for the team.

The intention was for Wilson, 35, and Pickett, the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, to battle it out for the position of quarterback in training camp. ESPN stated that “internally, Wilson was viewed more as the starting quarterback.”

According to the report, Pickett then “preferred to get a fresh start elsewhere.”

Regarding Adam Schefter’s first story on the deal on Friday, which said that “Picket preferred to move on once Pittsburgh signed Russell Wilson,” CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala wrote on X: “NOTE: The reason ‘preferred’ isn’t because Kenny Pickett is trying to avoid competition. According to sources aware of the conversation, Wilson was told clearly by the #Steelers that he would start, breaking their promise to him that, following two years of turmoil, he would finally be placed in a position to succeed.

Wilson, who signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, now has Justin Fields as a backup after the Bears traded Fields to them on Saturday.
