Three quarterbacks are expected to go off the board with the first three picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, though it is far from certain which order the top three QB prospects will be chosen in.

Caleb Williams, a star player for USC, seems to be locked in at No. 1 right now, but nothing is clear after that since, based on recent sources, Washington might be leaning toward LSU’s Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman winner.

NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network says that’s not set in stone, as UNC’s Drake Maye is “absolutely still in play” for the Commanders with the No. 2 pick.

Washington traded 2023 starting QB Sam Howell to the Seahawks this week, further locking in the notion that it is going QB at No. 2.

Jeremiah brought up the fact that Howell and Drake Maye are best friends, so moving Howell out could pave the way for Maye without any behind-the-scenes difficulties.

Jeremiah also added that it’s less likely the Patriots trade down than the Commanders, as there are still plenty of other talented QBs at the top of this draft if you don’t love the idea of going Maye at 2, while the Pats appear to be locked in at 3 and ready to take their QB of the future.

Maye checks a ton of boxes in terms of what teams typically look for in a quarterback prospect, but has some concerns with his accuracy and decision-making.
