When Celtic plays St Johnstone on Saturday, it appears like Cameron Carter-Vickers, the calming presence, will be back in the defense.
Saying that the defender’s season has been disrupted by injuries would be an understatement; his ailment kept him out of the Scottish Cup victory against Livingston for the seventh time this season.
Last season Carter-Vickers underwent knee surgery following Celtic’s victory in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, since then things have never seemed quite right with the former Spurs man.
The Daily Record quotes Rodgers from an interview with Celtic TV as saying:
We’ll examine Cameron Carter Vickers; as a precaution, he should be alright. I had a lengthy conversation with Cam this morning, and he basically believes that everything revolves around his knee surgery.
Additionally, you may have that feeling and believe it is related to another injury if you have had multiple injuries from that. Fortunately, it doesn’t appear to be the case.
We’ve had the scan which has come through fine, he’s done some work with the medical team and hopefully he will rejoin the training squad on Thursday and Friday.
Luis Palma was always going to be after the international break.
Fans will have to wait until Friday for detail on Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor.
Both won’t play against St Johnstone, but with a 15-day gap before the trip to Livingston, there may be some improvement, even though it’s not the best surface to play on after an injury.
Following that, the countdown to Ibrox begins, a game in which Aaron Rodgers will need to include as many of the top players from the previous campaign on his roster as feasible.
