Anthony Davis to get treatment on ‘sore’ left shoulder following Bucks win

It left a bitter aftertaste, even on a night when the Lakers defeated the Bucks to record one of their biggest victories of the year. Due to a shoulder injury, Anthony Davis was clearly hindered throughout the fourth quarter, spending the majority of the play unable to raise his left arm.

Head coach Darvin Ham announced following the win that Davis was being evaluated and that there will be an update on Saturday.

Although the exact moment Davis injured his shoulder is unknown, the action that the ESPN broadcast repeatedly mentioned occurred in the third quarter when AD attempted to charge Giannis Antetokounmpo and was elbowed in the shoulder.

He appeared to have no problems finishing the third quarter, but after taking his regular break on the bench, the medical personnel examined his shoulder.

Determining whether this is a major injury or not is difficult. In the locker room, AD didn’t appear unduly worried, although he has previously adopted that stance and has lost time this season due to a recurrent hip ailment, among other reasons.

Needless to say, the Lakers cannot afford to lose AD for an extended length of time. Short-term, the club needs him to be at Sunday’s game against Rudy Gobert and the Wolves. Long term, Davis is the cornerstone of their whole defense. The team has recently observed that without him, things break down on that end of the floor.

Not to add to all of this is the fact that LeBron James was not available for the Lakers on Friday. His ankle is a chronic problem that seems to erupt at any time.

The Lakers are once again this season walking an extremely thin tightrope due to injuries and are in danger of losing their footing.
