Louisville (8-21, 3-15) will play its last regular-season game against Virginia Tech (16-13, 8-10), tonight at the KFC Yum! Center.

UofL is trying to snap a three-game losing record against the Hokies after suffering three defeats in a row overall. On December 3, UofL suffered a 75-68 loss in Blacksburg during their season opener.

“Look, at the end of the day, this is about us doing the things that it takes to win, which is defending, rebounding, running good offense and without turning the ball over, but if we do those things, I like our chances knowing that this is a very good team that’s capable of beating anybody in this league.”

The Cardinals shot just 40% from the field and had more turnovers than assists in that early-season game. These are only two of the several problems that have impeded Louisville’s season-long improvement.

“We turn the ball over when it matters most, which bothers me. It’s understandable that folks would be concerned about our shooting % in comparison to our defense. That is mostly dependent on two factors: offensive rebounding and turning the ball over to create opportunities for layups or threes in transition. We have suffered great harm from those two areas when we fail to perform our duties.”

rivalry History: Although Louisville has defeated the Hokies three times in a row, they still lead the rivalry 36-11 all-time. UofL is 19-4 while playing Va Tech at home. The Cardinals and the Hokies have never suffered four successive losses.
