UNC-Notre Dame Preview: Tar Heels Bid Farewell at Home

On Senior Night, Carolina will recognize seven players, and a victory over the Fighting Irish might secure at least a share of the ACC regular-season championship.

“They are a terrific defensive team, extremely well-coached. From a defensive standpoint, they’ve got good individual defenders, and they play great team defense. They do an excellent job of protecting the paint and just not allowing you to get there through post penetration. When you throw the ball into the post, they’ll double-team, whether it’s the ‘four’ to ‘five’ (spots), and then on the offensive end, two things. One, they’ve got a number of guys that can shoot the ball from 3. And then they’ve got (Markus) Burton, a guy that can just be able to one-on-one create shots for himself and shots for his teammates.” — UNC coach Hubert Davis on Monday, breaking down the challenges presented by Notre Dame.

Senior Night Send-Off for the Tar Heels: On Tuesday night, the Tar Heels will host Notre Dame for their final home game of the season. As part of Senior Night events, Rob Landry, Armando Bacot, Paxson Wojcik, Duwe Farris, Creighton Lebo, and RJ Davis will be honored. Davis has not yet disclosed his future plans, but he still has the extra COVID year open to him for one more season of eligibility. This season, Carolina is 13-1 at home while the Fighting Irish are 2-8 away from home.
