Young gun Sua Fa’alogo has signed a five-year contract extension with the Melbourne Storm.
The 20-year-old’s long-term deal will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2028 NRL season
Fa’alogo has also officially been promoted to the top-30 squad for the upcoming season.
Young gun Storm Sua Fa’anoo inks a new contract.
Fa’alogo, a native of Victoria, impressed in the SG Ball tournament with his lightning-fast speed and attacking prowess, and in 2021 he signed with the Storm.
Since moving up from the Victorian Thunderbolts U21 team, Fa’alogo has developed his skills with the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland Cup.
In Round 27 of the previous year, he made his NRL debut with Melbourne against Brisbane.
In 2023, he also made his debut internationally by playing in the Pacific Rugby League Championships for Samoa.
“Being on the same team as guys like Munster, Paps, Harry, and Hughesy is truly amazing,” Fa’alogo remarked.
“I am a proud Samoan and a proud lad from Melbourne. My family is here, and I grew up loving to play football with Northern Thunder. Being able to participate in the Storm is an incredible opportunity.
“I can’t thank Craig [Bellamy] and the club enough for what they have done for me over the last couple of seasons and I hope I can repay them on the field when my time comes.”
Fa’alogo primarily plays at fullback but can be utilised across the backline.
There will be plenty of competition for the No.1 jersey at the Storm
“We can’t have asked for any more from Sua since he joined us on a development list contract back in 2021,” Storm general manager Frank Ponissi said.
“He has incredible footwork and explosive pace, as anyone who watched his NRL debut and Samoa games would attest.
“Sua was one of our Thunderbolts and SG Ball players, and we saw him while he was a player with the Sunshine Coast Falcons the previous year, waiting his turn to play in the NRL.
“He is a great character to have around the club and brings an enormous amount of energy to the group.”
