Earlier this week, the Tennessee Titans announced the hire of Scott Fuchs, the former coach of the Kansas Jayhawks, as an assistant offensive line coach. Fuchs has 31 years of collegiate coaching experience as an offensive line coach. Fuchs was the offensive line coach for Kansas for the preceding three seasons.

This past season, Fuchs was the offensive line coach for Dominick Puni of Kansas. Puni performed quite well at the Senior Bowl this year and could be selected in the top 50. Fuchs also coached Chase Roullier at Wyoming and Billy Turner, a former Miami Dolphins third-round selection.

Fuchs is starting out as the assistant offensive line coach because he has never been a professional coach. Given his extensive background, Fuchs should have no trouble adjusting to the NFL. Maybe even Fuchs

Bill Callahan, the offensive line coach for the Titans, is 67 years old. If his son Brian Callahan continues to be Tennessee’s head coach, Callahan might be inclined to stay on the team. In a different scenario, the senior Callahan assists the younger Callahan in establishing the Titans’ coaching philosophy. Callahan could give Fuchs three years to get ready for a more senior job if he were to retire at the age of 70.

There are no guarantees. Callahan and the Titans might not even have three full seasons if they can’t turn Will Levis into a reliable franchise quarterback. This is a results-driven enterprise.

Colt Anderson, a former player, has been hired by the Titans to serve as the new special teams coordinator. Additionally, Steve Donatell becomes a defensive assistant on staff. Son of longtime NFL coach Ed Donatell, Donatell has worked for several notable defensive-minded coaches, such as Miami’s Vic Fangio. At Stanford, he collaborated with David Shaw as well.
