With the 2023 NFL season officially over, the long offseason begins.

The league’s fans are already looking forward to the draft in April, followed by the commencement of training camp.

NFL players are equally as enthusiastic. Particularly Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

DTR spoke on the BIGPLAY Cleveland Show on Monday and expressed his excitement for the upcoming season (via BIGPLAY Cleveland).

“I can’t wait to be back. I can’t wait to come back to training camp, preseason, and wherever the fans are. They provide a varied level of juice and energy, which we all require.

It’s fantastic to see Dorian’s excitement for the upcoming season.

The Browns will undoubtedly face great expectations again.

Plus, after witnessing a Super Bowl starring a team the Browns defeated during the regular season in San Francisco, it makes sense for the Cleveland players to be ready for the fall season to begin anew.

Thompson-Robinson is ready to take on the backup position in Cleveland.

Deshaun Watson will, of course, be the starter from day one.

But, as we’ve seen, injuries, among other factors, can take guys out for weeks.

DTR made the most of his opportunities this season, including a victory over the rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

Despite his problems, fans embraced him warmly throughout the year.

He’s become a fan favorite of sorts.

Rest assured, he and Browns supporters alike are prepared for the next season.

Steelers release Mitch Trubisky, two starters, and save considerable financial money.

The previous NFL season concluded with the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the San Francisco 49ers, and the upcoming offseason has begun. While clubs, including the Cleveland Browns, look for reasons to believe they can beat the Chiefs, free agency and the NFL draft loom.

The salary ceiling in the NFL is frequently a source of contention between those who believe it is the most essential issue and those who claim “it isn’t real.” The cap is real, yet it’s also flexible. It is an accounting tool.

The Pittsburgh Steelers began their accounting process on the Monday after the Super Bowl by removing three players who started for them in 2023.

The 49ers’ quest for another last-second miracle merits a thorough rewind.

  • QB Mitchell Trubisky
  • OT Chukwuma Okorafor
  • P Pressley Harvin

Trubisky was supposed to count more than $7.5 million against the salary cap this season. With his departure, the team will save just under $3 million, leaving over $4.5 million in dead cap space. Okorafor was scheduled to earn just under $12 million against the Steelers’ cap. By releasing him, Pittsburgh saves more than $8 million against the cap.

The three transactions save the team significant salary room this year, but they also result in a dead cap of more than $8 million in 2024.

The Steelers could use post-June 1st designations on Trubisky and Okorafor to save cap space in 2024, but doing so will result in dead cap charges in 2025.

Before these changes, Pittsburgh was expected to exceed the cap by $16 million. Along with the Steelers and Browns, nine other clubs are now predicted to be over the cap, including the New Orleans Saints, who are $83.6 million over.

All teams must be under the payroll cap by March 13th, when the new league year begins.
