The spouses and girlfriends of the Super Bowl teams’ players can earn thousands from sponsored social media posts.
It’s not just profitable to be a Super Bowl advertiser or one of the two teams’ outstanding players; people can make a lot of money simply by dating or marrying American football icons.
The wives and girlfriends of San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs players, who faced off in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday night (Feb. 11), can earn a total of $700,000 for each sponsored Instagram post they share. LuckyGambler evaluated the Instagram profit potential for each team’s most-followed romantic partners. It’s a website that usually gathers statistics on internet gambling but chose to look into Super Bowl-related measures because, well, everyone else is (Wells Fargo, Frito Lay’s, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.).
Notably, many of the 49ers’ and Chiefs’ romantic partners are already well-known, which means they could earn money from sponsored social media posts even if they didn’t date a professional football player. Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce’s (and America’s) favorite, really generates revenue for the Chiefs. Of course, she is expected to earn the most of any Chiefs significant other for each Instagram post she publishes ($637,000).
Then there’s Olivia Culpo, the fiancée of 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Before dating McCaffrey, she won the 2012 Miss Universe pageant and dated other famous athletes such as Ryan Lochte and Tim Tebow. She is expected to earn approximately $31,000 for each sponsored post. Swift and Culpo have 280.8 and 5.5 million followers, respectively.
However, LuckyGambler claims that dating athletes helps enhance even the most recognized stars’ social media profitability. Some not-so-famous wives and girlfriends can still make money from sponsored Instagram posts, albeit significantly less. Mahogany Jones, the wife of 49ers wide receiver Samuel Deebo, for example, can earn almost $3,000 every post. Less-famous husbands and girlfriends earn more money from sponsored posts per follower than Swift and Culpo.
Swift earns two-tenths of one cent each post every follower, whereas lesser-known girlfriends of footballers get more than three cents per follower.
