Philadelphia (CBS) — The Philadelphia Eagles have given edge rusher Haason Reddick permission to seek a trade, according to NFL Network on Sunday.

Reddick, 29, is in the third year of a three-year, $45 million contract and is likely looking for a raise following two Pro Bowl seasons with the Birds, where he had double-digit sacks.

The Eagles finished 11-6 after starting 10-1 and were eliminated from the playoffs in the wild card round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Reddick had another good season. He had 11 sacks — his fourth consecutive year with double-digit sacks — 23 quarterback hits, and 38 total tackles, including 13 tackles for loss.

According to Overthecap.com, Reddick’s 2024 salary will be $15 million, ranking him 14th among pass rushers and far behind the league’s top pass rushers. In terms of average annual value (AAV), San Francisco’s Nick Bosa earns $34 million, Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt earns $27 million, Los Angeles’ Joey Bosa earns $27 million, and Cleveland’s Myles Garrett earns $25 million.

Reddick, a Camden native who played college football at Temple University, told CBS Sports prior to the 2023 season that he was “hopeful” to sign a new deal with the team and “represent my city for the rest of my career.”

Even though the team enabled Reddick to seek a trade, he might still spend his final season in Philadelphia.

Last year, the Eagles offered cornerback Darius Slay permission to seek a trade, but they ultimately signed him to a new contract.

However, if Reddick is traded, the Eagles’ defensive line would look very different next season.

Reddick, a vital piece of the team’s Super Bowl win last year, and the probable exits of Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham, both free agents, are on the horizon this summer.

Haason Reddick, a second-team All-Pro in 2022 whose play deteriorated this season along with the rest of the defense, has been granted permission by the Philadelphia Eagles to seek a trade, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Sunday.

Reddick has spent the previous two seasons with the Eagles, following his first four years with the Arizona Cardinals and one season with the Carolina Panthers in 2021. He attended Temple University and played basketball there.

In his two seasons in Philadelphia, he has 27 sacks and has been named to the Pro Bowl twice.

During his debut season with the Eagles, he tied Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett for the second-most sacks in the NFL (16) and led all defensive players with five forced fumbles, helping Philadelphia reach Super Bowl LVII.

In 2023, he had 11 sacks, 23 quarterback hits, and 13 tackles for loss for an Eagles defense that dropped from second in yards allowed and eighth in points in 2022 to 26th in yards allowed and 30th in points the next season.

Reddick will be 30 in September. He is in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract signed in March 2022, and he appeared dissatisfied with his deal even last year, opting out of voluntary OTAs.

If he leaves, the Eagles will have lost their two best pass rushers in the space of a year, following Jason Hargrave’s signing with the 49ers after last season.

According to bleedinggreennation.com, the remaining edge rushers under contract include Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, Patrick Johnson, Tarron Jackson, and Terrell Lewis.
