The 2024 Trade Deadline is just over a month away, so time is running out. The Philadelphia Flyers appear to be everywhere while opponents are attempting to determine where they want to take their strategy.

They have a good chance of making the playoffs, but if they miss out, they have a lot of assets that they might try to deal. By the deadline, it is anticipated that Sean Walker, Nick Seeler, and Scott Laughton will be among them. However, it appears that Travis Konecny, a forward, will sign a new contract.

Elliotte Friedman recently said on the 32 Thoughts podcast that he thinks the Flyers have decided to re-sign Konecny. In his opinion, it will also be costly. Friedman stated:

If Konecny had been transferred, he could have brought in a lot of future assets, but keeping him ensures they have a solid foundation for the upcoming few seasons. Additionally, some think that having is more valuable than what he would receive in a deadline deal.

Konecny is a right-handed forward from London, Ontario, who weighs 174 pounds and is 5 feet 10 inches tall. He is 26 years old. Following a successful season in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Ottawa 67’s, he was selected by the Flyers with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He finished the season with 68 points from 60 games, 29 goals and 39 assists. His next campaign was even better, going into 29 games with 45 points from seven goals and 38 assists. After being moved, he joined the Sarnia Sting, where in 31 games he scored 23 goals and provided 33 assists for 56 points.

In 540 games over his career, Konecny has tallied 377 points with 165 goals and 212 assists. That’s a respectable average of 0.70 points per game. He’s made a name for himself as a deadly offensive creator who can often score twenty goals a year. In the event that Konecny receives a significant extension, it appears that the Flyers are opposed to dealing him.
