Roy Hodgson, the manager of Crystal Palace, claims that because fans are turning against him and the squad, this is the “toughest” time in his management career.

With just one victory in their last five games, Hodgson is feeling the heat as Palace’s manager.

On Monday, when Palace hosts Chelsea in the Premier League, the 76-year-old will be in charge of his 200th game.

“[Fans] are the people that we cannot afford to have turned against us, because we need them,” Hodgson stated.

“The reason this has been the hardest time in my career is because the fans have been so hostile toward us.

“If we’re going to win the games, and this team is going to do well, they’re not going to be able to do it if the fans are going to be constantly up in arms about everything that’s happening.

“Apart from that, it joins a lot of other periods of my life where I’ve been happier and more content, of course.”

Palace fans have been showing banners at games calling for Hodgson to be sacked.

In light of rumors that Palace is hunting for a replacement, the manager has stated he has not discussed his “thoughts or plans” with sporting director Dougie Freedman or chairman Steve Parish.

Hodgson went on, “We could need their help and sympathy, especially now that we are in a very vulnerable position, since there will be players playing on Monday night who haven’t played many games for the Palace first team.

“They’re going to need a sympathetic eye rather than the ultra-critical.”

Hodgson, a former England manager, has overseen the national teams of Finland, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates in addition to managing clubs like Inter Milan, Blackburn, Fulham, Liverpool, and West Bromwich Albion.

After Iceland upset England 2-1 in the round of 16 of the 2016 European Championship, he announced his resignation as England’s manager.
