On Friday, was present at a crucial meeting where the lawyer overseeing the inquiry into the claims of “controlling behavior” made against the Red Bull team principal was present.
Horner was under investigation, it was disclosed on Monday, following an accusation of “inappropriate and controlling” behavior by a female Red Bull employee.
In a hearing on Friday, the 50-year-old “completely denies” the allegations and made his case to the separate attorney his team has retained to handle the matter.
According to The Guardian, the “extensive” meeting lasted eight hours, but neither a resolution nor a conclusion was made—nor was one anticipated.
Following the meeting, Red Bull released the following statement: “It would not be appropriate to comment until the investigation is completed.”
Red Bull wants to resolve this issue as soon as possible to avoid having it interfere with their Thursday, February 15th 2024 automobile launch. It is reported that the employee has already given her proof.
The BBC, however, reports that the probe would take a long time, possibly continuing until Bahrain’s F1 season begins on March 1.
Parent company Red Bull GmbH released a statement following the claims’ Monday public release, stating: “The company launched an independent investigation after being made aware of certain recent allegations.”
This process is now underway and is being handled by a third-party specialized barrister. The company takes these issues very seriously, and it will do its best to finish the investigation as quickly as is reasonably practicable. Further comments would not be acceptable at this time.
Despite reportedly being in “floods of tears,” Horner’s wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, is expected to stick by and support her husband through to the very end.
