Tautau Moga, a former NRL journeyman who last played for the St George Illawarra Dragons, has found a new home for the 2024 season.
Moga has teamed up with the Western Suburbs Devils, who will participate in the Mojo Holmes Illawarra Cup in 2024, following his participation in the NRL first grade last season.
His signing with the Devils coincides with the team’s announcement on social media that former NRL hooker James Segeyaro has withdrawn his intention to play for the team in the forthcoming season.
It is said that as late as October of last year, the outside back was being considered by a number of Super League teams before he decided to play for the Devils.
He was an Australian Schoolboy representative in 2010 and an Under 20 Queensland player in 2012. Had the NRL not implemented a new rule prohibiting players under the age of 18 from participating at first-grade level in 2011, he would have made his Sydney Roosters debut in 2011 at the age of 73.
He played for the Sydney Roosters, Cowboys, Brisbane Broncos, Knights, Rabbitohs, and most recently, the St George Illawarra Dragons for the last two seasons in 12 NRL seasons.
In the last two years, the 29-year-old has added 13 tries in 13 Dragons outings to his career total of 36 tries in 87 NRL games. Moga has also made three appearances for Samoa.
