According to authorities, a man who was detained on suspicion of manslaughter after American ice hockey player Adam Johnson died has had his bail increased. This was announced on Friday.
Johnson passed away on October 28th, following a skate blade slash to his neck during an English game.
In the Elite Ice Hockey League, he was representing the Nottingham Panthers against the Sheffield Steelers, the home team.
The American, 29, passed away in the hospital after playing in 13 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2019 and 2020.
The ice hockey community was stunned by Johnson’s passing, especially since hundreds of people saw the incident at the Sheffield facility.
In November, South Yorkshire Police detained a man on suspicion of manslaughter and released him on bail.
“On November 14, a man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and later bailed,” the force said in a statement on Friday. He was granted a new bail today, valid through April 25, 2024.
