Mariano Rivera, a Hall of Fame closer for the New York Yankees, is in attendance at Syracuse’s lacrosse game against Manhattan on Friday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Jaziel, Rivera’s son, is a junior faceoff specialist with the Jaspers.
Rivera, baseball’s all-time saves leader, was the first unanimous Hall of Fame selection by the Baseball Writers Association of America. He was enshrined in Cooperstown in 2019.
He earned 652 saves in 19 seasons in the major leagues, all with the Yankees, and retired with 952 games completed, also a record.
Rivera, a 13-time All-Star, helped the Yankees to five World Series championships and seven American League pennants.
