Former Yankee Gary Sanchez signs one-year deal with Brewers

Brewin is doing something with Gary Sanchez.

According to Jon Heyman of The Post, the former catcher for the Yankees and Mets inked a $7 million, one-year contract with the Brewers on Wednesday.

A 2025 option is included in the deal.

With Sanchez added to the lineup, Milwaukee now has another option behind the plate that can also be used as a designated hitter in addition to William Contreras, the reigning Silver Slugger winner.

Sanchez had an erratic season last year, having spent the first 16 games of 2023 with the Giants organization before being released and signed with the Mets in May.

Before settling in with the Padres and appearing in 72 games while hitting, he played three games with the Mets.218 with 46 RBIs and 19 home homers.

His season was cut short by a wrist fracture in early September, but he has improved over the last two years, leading to a 2023 defensive run save percentage of +7.

After making his major league debut in 2015, Sanchez, 31, played with the Yankees for the first seven years of his career in The Bronx.

After slashing.299/.376/.657 and hitting 20 home runs in 53 games, he concluded the 2016 season in second place in the AL Rookie of the Year voting.

During his tenure with the Yankees, Sanchez was selected to two MLB All-Star teams (in 2017 and 2019) and was the 2017 Silver Slugger Award winner.
