Nashville — Tim Kelly, the former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator, will become the New York Giants’ tight ends coach, the Titans said Tuesday. Kelly has coached in the NFL for ten seasons, the last two with the Titans. He spent eight years with the Houston Texans before joining Tennessee, where he served as offensive coordinator for three seasons. Kelly had several tasks with the Titans, including managing the tight ends, developing the first- and second-down passing game, and assisting with the offensive scheme for the red zone.
The team’s tight ends placed ninth in the NFL for their position, with 952 receiving yards. Notably, fourth-round draft pick Chig Okonkwo tallied 450 yards, setting a franchise record for rookie tight ends and leading all NFL rookie tight ends in 2022. Kelly has reunited with former Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, who is assuming the same role with the Giants.

Titans NFL Draft Daily (Feb. 6): ESPN’s Latest Mock Draft Predicts Tennessee’s Top Two Picks
The newest round of NFL mock drafts has been released now that the Reese’s Senior Bowl is concluded and college football hopefuls have given their first audition to NFL scouts. ESPN’s Matt Miller revealed his most recent two-round estimates for the 2024 NFL Draft. What does he expect the Tennessee Titans to do?
Miller anticipates that the Titans will address their two largest needs in the draft: offensive lineman and wide receiver. Here’s his two-round projection for Tennessee:
What ESPN is saying
“With clubs racing to sign elite quarterbacks and receivers, the Titans can sit tight at No. 7 and still secure the finest left tackle in the class. Alt is a pro-ready starter who spent three years at Notre Dame. At 6-foot-8 and 322 pounds, the 20-year-old is a force in the run game, but his true value lies in pass protection, where he surrendered only one sack and four pressures in 2023.”
Quick thought.
There’s no surprise here. The Titans sorely need an offensive tackle, and Alt has been a popular choice among draft analysts. He has the potential to be a day one starter in Nashville, which is exactly what this team needs to enhance its passing game.
Adonai Mitchell, a wide receiver from Texas, was selected in the second round at pick number 38.
What ESPN is saying
“The Titans don’t have a potential WR1. Treylon Burks has struggled to live up to his first-round expectations, while veteran DeAndre Hopkins will be 32 years old next season. Mitchell is a 6-foot-4 wideout with excellent separation ability who recorded 11 touchdowns and 41 first-down receptions for the Longhorns in 2023. He is most effective on vertical routes, which complements Titans quarterback Will Levis’ throwing talent.
Quick thought.
Another popular option among draft pundits is the Titans’ selection of a wide receiver in the second round. Levis requires a long-term passing option, and Mitchell can fill that role. He would most likely start his debut season as the No. 2 option behind Hopkins. Then, Mitchell could easily emerge as Tennessee’s top target by 2025.
Overall reaction.
To be honest, nothing about this mock draft is surprising. The only thing observers disagree on regarding Tennessee’s first-round choice is whether it will be Alt or Penn State’s Olu Fashanu. The Titans cannot go wrong with either selection.
Mitchell’s potential second-round selection by the Titans is more intriguing. Devontez Walker (North Carolina), Xavier Legette (South Carolina), and Roman Wilson (Michigan) are among the wide receivers listed as potential targets for Tennessee.
It’s crucial to remember that we’re still in February. The NFL Scouting Combine, pro days, and player interviews are all upcoming events. Much will change between now and April 25.
